Asphalt Plant 14
This asphalt plant, first erected in the early 1960’s, was originally a small batch plant called Plant #5. It was decommissioned and replaced in the early 1970’s with a larger, more modern H & B Batch Plant, which was called Plant #14. This plant operated from this location until 1995, when it was converted to a Continuous Mix Plant. Since that time, we’ve replaced the tower, which included the pug mill and hot bins with a rotary mixer, and added a third storage silo.
This renovation increased our production capabilities substantially, allowing us to eliminate two other active, local asphalt plants, one in Martin County (Plant #10), and one in Indian River County (Plant #18), while still being able to service the same market area from our single Fort Pierce location.
It is not unusual for this asphalt plant to run 24 hours a day, depending on the paving schedule for our sister company, Dickerson Florida, Inc. Of course, we provide materials to all of the Dickerson projects, but we also proudly serve many private customers each day with a high quality asphalt mix.
This plant is rated to produce up to 275 tons of asphalt mix per hour, but typically runs around 180 tons per hour. We maintain a staff of Quality Control personnel and Asphalt Plant personnel who are dedicated to producing high quality asphalt mixtures for a variety of applications.
The asphalt plant also houses our FDOT Certified Laboratory, as well as our Trucking Division.
